The Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard

There’s always something new and different to see at The Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard. Exhibits of original artwork by local artists change every six weeks and reflect the diverse creativity of Bermuda’s art community. The Arts Centre, located in the historic Cooperage building, houses six resident artists: Lynn Morrell, Chesley Trott, Jonah Jones, Julie Hastings-Smith, Angela Gentleman and Suzie Lowe who are happy to take time out to chat about their work. Open 10 am–5 pm daily.

Bermuda Clayworks

Bermuda Clayworks is the Island’s only full time production pottery and ceramic artish collective gallery.  The gift shop offers vivid coloured island inspired tableware, salt glazed stoneware pottery, ceramic jewellery, souvenir items, contemporary porcelain and the popular customized handpainted houseplaques.  All local artists & onsite studios make the pottery a prime Bermuda Cultural attraction.  Open year round.

Bermuda Craft Market

Established in 1987 this is the largest, most extensive craft outlet in Bermuda, featuring the works of 60 Bermudians, many of whom are frequently on hand to talk about their craft. Items include candles, Bermudian cedar work, ceramics, jewelry, fabric art, painted glassware, three-dimensional decoupage, needlework canvas, Christmas ornaments and quilts. Hours: 9:30 am–6 pm daily from May to October; 10:30 am–5 pm daily from November to March.

Bermuda Maritime Museum

Explore 500 years of local history and culture, displayed in military buildings of the 6-acre Keep citadel, including the award-winning restored Commissioner’s House. Discover bastions, cannons, shipwreck artifacts, local watercrafts, maritime art, and spectacular sea views. The Museum is also home to Dolphin Quest [LINK]. The Museum is open every day 9:30 a.m.–5 p.m. except Christmas Day. Last admission 4 p.m.

Bermuda Rum Cake Company

Watch bakers producing real Bermuda Rum Cakes – and sample some of the delicious flavors fresh from the oven!  The micro bakery is located inside an old machine shop in the Royal Naval Dockyard and built in the style of a traditional Bermudian cottage. All the cakes are produced here and only the finest Gosling’s Black Seal Rum is used in producing them. Hours: 9 am–6 pm daily; 8am–10 pm when cruise ships are in port.

Dockyard Glassworks

Feel the heat and admire the artistry at Dockyard Glassworks where you can watch craftsman create exquisite hand made art glass items. The studio employs experienced glass artists locally and from around the world who produce both hot furnace glass, flameworked glass, fused glass jewelry and glass beads. Hours: 9am–6pm daily; 8am–10pm when cruise ships are in port.
